BHEL bags Rs 5600 orders in UP

State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said it has bagged a Rs 5,600 crore contract from an arm of Jaiprakash Associates for setting up a 1,980-MW thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh.

BHEL has secured the contract from Prayagraj Power Generation Company Ltd (PPGCL), a company-owned by Jaiprakash Associates, for setting up a 1,980-MW thermal power project in Uttar Pradesh, the company said in a statement.

As per the contract, BHEL would install three units with a capacity of 660 MW each of the Prayagraj Thermal Power Project in the Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

BHEL bags Rs 205 crores orders from Oman.

Power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd said on Wednesday it has bagged a 2.05 billion rupees ($43.5 million) order to set up a gas turbine generation unit in Oman.

Bhel to meet production target by Dec 2009

State-run BHEL today said it will meet its target of producing by December equipment for generating 15,000 MW of power.

"There are no constraints...and we will be able to achieve the 15,000 MW by December, 2009," CMD BHEL B P Rao told reporters here.

The company which has an order book of Rs 1,25,000 crore hopes to get new contracts worth about Rs 20,000 crore during the current fiscal.

BHEL has lined up a capital expenditure of Rs 2,400 crore for 2009-10. It further plans to manufacture equipment that can generate 20,000 MW electricity by 2012.

The company registered a turnover of Rs 28,033 crore in the financial year 2008-09 and a net profit of Rs 3,138 crore during the same period.

BHEL's order book at 1.3 trillion Rs.

State-run firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has got new orders worth 200 billion rupees ($4.3 billion) since April, including from Vedanta and Hindalco, Chairman B.P. Rao said on Thursday.

Punj Lloyd bags Rs 275-cr order


Engineering firm Punj Lloyd today said it has bagged an order worth Rs 275.79 crore from Indianoil Petronas for engineering related works.

The company would be responsible for construction, installation, testing and commissioning of terminal at Tamil Nadu, the Punj Lloyd said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Shares of Punj Lloyd today closed at Rs 268.30 on the BSE, up 3.49 per cent from the previous close.

L&T bags Rs 2,000 cr order from GMR group


Engineering firm Larsen & Toubro today said it has received an order worth over Rs 2,000 crore from GMR Energy for setting up a gas-based power plant in Andhra Pradesh.
Under the scope of the order, L&T would set up the gas-based power plant at Vemagiri, near Rajamundry in Andhra Pradesh, Larsen & Toubro said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The project is expected to be completed in the 11th plan.
L&T's subsidiary L&T-Sargent and Lundy would carry out the plant integration and detailed engineering.
The construction, installation, commissioning and project management would be done by L&T.
As part of the order, L&T would design and manufacture critical equipment for the plant like heat recovery steam generators, switchgear and cooling towers among other things.
